... line upon line ... Isaiah 28:10
Deuteronomy 18:6 And if a Levite come from any of thy gates out of all Israel, where he sojourned, and come with all the desire of his mind unto the place which the LORD shall choose; …
So, this Levite packs up his life, leaves his home, departs from his town, travels across the land and arrives at the place he is to serve the LORD. Quite an effort. But, he has a desire – in fact, ALL of the desire of his mind – to serve the LORD. As a Levite, he has a specific role in the Levitical system, and a specific place in which to perform that role.
He has determined that nothing will stop him from fulfilling his purpose and seeing the will of God come to pass in his life. This is the attitude and subsequent behaviour of a man that has set his desire, heart, mind and soul wholly on the LORD God.
If you want to do something for the LORD, then take all the desire of your heart and go do it! Don’t sit around planning, talking, praying, procrastinating and never going! You may talk about having a desire, but if you have no actions, then the sincerity of your desire is questionable.
There is nothing wrong with having other desires in life, but the problem comes when we have divided loyalties, split desires, half-hearted desires and therefore double mindedness.
I cried with my whole heart; hear me, O LORD: I will keep thy statutes (Psalm 119:145).
